Matching Jobs Overview

Matching Jobs is Callings.ai's AI-powered job discovery feature that automatically finds and scores job opportunities based on your background, skills, and preferences. It continuously scans a curated database of millions of job postings and presents a personalized list of matches with scores from 0 to 100 indicating fit strength.

Two Versions: Legacy and Beta

The Find Matching Jobs popup now has two tabs:

• Version 1 (Legacy) is the original experience covered throughout this guide. It produces a single automatically-curated list of matches based on your primary resume and the preferences you configure on the Preferences page.
• Version v2 (Beta) is a new tab in the same popup. It searches a different, curated job database that is kept fresh, and each of your resumes gets its own text-based search query that you can tune in plain English. See the Version v2 (Beta) tab section in Browsing Matches for details.

The popup remembers which tab you used last, so you can stick with the version you prefer.

How Matching Works

The matching algorithm analyzes your primary resume and preferences, then scores each job based on skills alignment, experience relevance, location, and other factors to generate a 0-100 match score.

• AI-Powered Analysis: Your primary resume is processed by a dedicated AI model to make recommendations based on multiple criteria. If you have multiple resumes, only the one marked as primary is used for job matching.
• Job Database Scan: The model queries a constantly refreshed job pool, applying semantic similarity and relevance scoring.
• Score Generation: Each job receives a Match Score (0 to 100) indicating how closely it fits your profile.

• Real‑time updates as you refine your background information and preferences.
• Once a job is added to the Job Tracker, a detailed breakdown of the matching score is available on the Job Detail page under the Evaluate tab in the Job Fit Report section.

Understanding Match Scores

• Global Match Score: Each score represents a global match that incorporates multiple parameters including skills, experience, location, and other relevant factors.

Preferences

Configure your job matching preferences to receive the most relevant recommendations. Each tab in Find Matching Jobs has its own preferences:

• The Legacy (V1) tab uses a structured panel with Interests, Filters, and Notifications.
• The Beta (V2) tab uses a per-resume plain-English description, edited from Edit Preferences in the V2 toolbar.

Interests

Define your professional interests to help the AI understand what types of roles and industries appeal to you. This includes areas of expertise, preferred job functions, and career directions you'd like to explore.

Filters

Set specific criteria to narrow down your job matches: - Location: Specify preferred cities, regions, or remote work options. - Salary Range: Define your expected compensation range. - Job Type: Filter by full-time, part-time, contract, or other employment types.

Daily Job Updates by Email

Stay informed about new opportunities that match your profile by enabling daily email notifications. This feature sends you a curated list of newly posted jobs that align with your primary resume and preferences, ensuring you never miss a relevant opportunity.

Note: If you have multiple resumes, the daily email notifications use only your primary resume for matching. Update your primary resume designation to change which resume drives your email recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often are matches refreshed?
A: Matches are refreshed each time you edit your search preferences, and otherwise updated daily.

Q: Why am I not seeing many matches?
A: This could mean your preferences are too restrictive, or there simply aren't many open roles matching your profile right now for the given location. Note that it may take a couple of days for your matches to be fully up to date after initial setup.

Q: Can I hide jobs I'm not interested in?
A: Yes! Click "Not Interested" on any job card, and it won't appear in your matches again.

Q: What's considered a "good" match score?
A: Generally: 80-100 = excellent fit, 60-79 = good fit with some gaps, 40-59 = possible fit if you're flexible, below 40 = significant misalignment.

Q: Do match scores consider salary requirements?
A: Yes, salary expectations can be set in your preferences and are factored into the matching algorithm.

Q: What's the difference between the Legacy and Beta tabs?
A: The Legacy (V1) tab is the original automatic recommendations driven by your primary resume and the Preferences page. The Beta (V2) tab searches a different, curated job database that is kept fresh, gives each of your resumes its own text-based search query, and ranks results against the selected resume.
