Coffee Meetups

Coffee Meetups is an opt-in service that automatically introduces you to one well-matched member on a cadence you choose, for a relaxed 20 to 30 minute networking chat. Callings handles the matching by professional background and makes the warm introduction by email, so all you have to do is show up and have the conversation.

Cold outreach is the part of networking most people avoid. Coffee Meetups removes the friction entirely: no asking, no scheduling cold, no wondering who is worth your time. You opt in, Callings finds someone with a similar background, and you both get an introduction.

How It Works

You choose a cadence, and Callings introduces you to a matched member by email on that schedule. Set how often you want to meet (weekly, every other week, or monthly), and Callings pairs you with another opted-in member whose background is a strong fit. Both of you receive a warm introduction email with each other's names so the conversation can begin.

The date shown on the Coffee Meetups page is when we send that email introduction, not the time of the chat itself. Once the intro goes out, you and your match pick a time that works for both of you, virtual or in person, so the actual coffee happens whenever you both choose.

Matching is based on your resume, so the people you meet tend to share your field, level, or trajectory, which makes the conversation genuinely useful. Strong matches are flagged so you know when a pairing is an especially good fit. When you first opt in, there is a short settling-in period of a couple of days before your first introduction goes out.

Opting In

To opt in, choose your cadence and select the resume Callings should use for matching. Before your first match, you review and accept a short consent agreement that explains how the introduction works and sets expectations:

You can also add an optional scheduling link (Calendly, Google Calendar, Cal.com, or similar) so your match can book a time with you directly.

Your Meetups

Once you are matched, each coffee chat appears as a card showing your match's name, where they are based, a LinkedIn link when available, and a note about whether you are the lead or the follower.

As things progress you can mark a meetup as scheduled, confirm that you met, ask for more time, or note that it did not happen. You can act on these right from the introduction email as well. Past meetups are kept as a tidy history so you can look back on who you have connected with.

Changing or Pausing

You can change your cadence or opt out at any time from the Coffee Meetups page. If you opt out while you have an upcoming meetup, Callings asks what you would like to do with it:

Either way, you are in control of when you are matched and when you pause.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often will I be matched?
A: As often as the cadence you choose: weekly, every other week, or monthly. You can change it anytime, and new members go through a short settling-in period of a couple of days before the first match.

Q: What is the date on the Coffee Meetups page?
A: It is the day we send the email introduction to you and your match, not a fixed meeting time. Once that intro goes out, the two of you pick a time for the chat that works for you both.

Q: How are matches chosen?
A: Callings matches you with another opted-in member whose professional background is a strong fit, based on the resume you select. Strong matches are flagged so you know when a pairing is an especially good fit.

Q: When are my details shared?
A: Only after you opt in and accept the consent agreement. At that point your name and email are shared with your match so you can arrange the chat. You are never matched without opting in.

Q: Can I stop getting matched?
A: Yes, anytime. Opting out is one click. If you have an upcoming meetup, Callings asks whether to cancel it (and re-pair your match) or let it finish while pausing new matches.

Q: How long is a coffee chat?
A: It is meant to be a relaxed 20 to 30 minute conversation. There is no formal agenda; the goal is simply to connect with a peer in your field.

Some of the most valuable conversations in a career are the ones you never planned. Opt in, let Callings make the introduction, and give yourself a standing reason to meet someone new. You never know which coffee turns into the connection that matters.
