Browsing Matches

Accessing Matching Jobs

There are two ways to access your matching jobs:

  1. From the Job Tracker: Click the Find Matching Jobs button at the top of the Job Tracker page
  2. From the Navigation Menu: Click Matching Jobs in the main navigation menu

Both options display the same list of AI-matched job opportunities based on your resume and preferences.

The Matching Jobs Interface

When you open Matching Jobs, you'll see a clean, organized view of all your matched opportunities displayed as job cards.

Job Cards

Each job card displays key information at a glance:

  • Match Score: Color-coded percentage showing how well the job matches your profile
  • Job Title: The position name
  • Company Name: The hiring organization
  • Location: Where the job is based
  • Work Arrangement: Remote, Hybrid, or Onsite badges
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, etc.
  • Salary Range: When available from the job posting
  • Posted Date: How recently the job was listed

Filtering by Date

Use the dropdown menu next to the job count to filter results by when jobs were posted:

  • 1 day: Jobs posted in the last 24 hours
  • 3 days: Jobs from the past 3 days
  • 1 week: Jobs from the past week (default)
  • 2 weeks: Jobs from the past 2 weeks
  • 3 weeks: Jobs from the past 3 weeks
  • 1 month: Jobs from the past month

Tip: Use shorter time ranges (1 day, 3 days) to focus on the freshest opportunities where you can be among the first applicants.

Additional Filters

For detailed control over which jobs appear in your matches, use the Edit Preferences button to access the Job Matches Preferences panel. See Setting Preferences for complete information on setting up your preferences, including minimum match score, salary requirements, employment type, workplace arrangement, and seniority level.

Understanding Match Scores

Match Score Colors

The match score badge uses color coding to help you quickly assess job fit:

  • Green (80%+): Strong match—your background aligns well with the job requirements
  • Orange (70-79%): Good match—solid alignment with room for some skill gaps
  • Red (Below 70%): Weaker match—may be a stretch role or less aligned with your experience

What the Score Means

The match score represents how well your resume and background align with the job's requirements. It's calculated by AI analysis comparing:

  • Your skills and technical competencies
  • Your work experience and career progression
  • Your educational background
  • The job's stated requirements and responsibilities

A higher score suggests you're well-qualified for the position, while a lower score might indicate the role requires skills or experience you haven't demonstrated in your resume.

Job Card Actions

Add to Tracker

Click the Add button to save a job to your Job Tracker pipeline. Once added:

  • The job is saved to your tracker for follow-up
  • The job will no longer appear in your matching jobs search results
  • You can track your application progress through various stages

Don't Show Again

Click the X or dismiss option to hide a job you're not interested in. This action:

  • Removes the job from your matching jobs results
  • Prevents this job from being included in your daily email notifications
  • Helps keep your job feed focused on relevant opportunities

Note: This action cannot be undone—the job will be permanently hidden from your search results.

Tips for Effective Job Browsing

Review Consistently

Set aside dedicated time to review your matches—even 15-20 minutes daily can keep your job search on track. Filter by recent postings (1-3 days) to catch fresh opportunities, and take action on each job by either adding it to your tracker or dismissing it. This prevents your feed from becoming cluttered with stale listings.

Act Quickly on Strong Matches

Top jobs attract many applicants quickly. When you find a high-match opportunity (80%+), aim to apply within 24-48 hours. Being an early applicant can improve your chances of getting noticed. Also consider using the networking tools to identify contacts at the company and send follow-up outreach—this can significantly boost your visibility beyond just submitting an application.

Prioritize by Match Score

Use match scores to guide how you allocate your time:

  • 90%+ matches: Priority applications—apply quickly with fully customized materials
  • 80-89% matches: Strong candidates—apply within a week with tailored resume
  • 70-79% matches: Worth considering—apply if time permits

After adding jobs to your tracker, you can use the Kanban view to organize opportunities into custom stages that reflect these priorities.

Balance Filters and Opportunities

Start with moderate filter settings rather than overly strict ones. Lower match scores can still be great fits, and you might miss hidden gems with aggressive filtering. If you're seeing too few results, broaden your preferences; if results aren't relevant, refine your Interests description.

Keep Your Feed Clean

Use "Don't Show Again" liberally for jobs that don't interest you. A cleaner feed makes reviewing easier and reduces time spent scrolling past irrelevant listings.

Save Now, Decide Later

Add interesting jobs to your tracker even if you're not ready to apply immediately. You can review and apply later, and it builds a pipeline of opportunities to work through.

Read Before You Commit

Always view the complete job description before adding to your tracker. Match scores are helpful but not perfect—apply your own judgment alongside the recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many matches should I expect?
A: This varies by field, location, and your preferences. Most users see 20-50 new matches per week. Broader preferences will show more results.

Q: Why do I keep seeing the same jobs?
A: Jobs remain in your matches until you either add them to your tracker or dismiss them. Take action on each job you review to keep your feed current.

Additionally, you may notice jobs that look very similar or appear multiple times. Some companies frequently repost the same positions, sometimes with minor variations. Others list the same remote job in multiple locations to attract candidates from different regions. Currently, you'll need to dismiss these duplicate-looking listings individually to keep your feed clean.

Q: How do I know if a job is still open?
A: Unfortunately, we don't currently have a way to verify whether a job is still accepting applications. Some jobs in your matches may have already expired or been filled. We recommend always checking the original job posting on the employer's website or job board to confirm the position is still open before investing time in your application.

Q: Why did my number of matches suddenly change?
A: This usually happens when you update your preferences or upload a new resume. Very restrictive filters or preference changes can significantly affect your match count.

Q: Can I see jobs I've dismissed?
A: No, dismissed jobs cannot be recovered. If you're unsure about a job, consider adding it to your tracker instead—you can always archive or delete it later.

Q: If I add a job to my tracker from Find Matching Jobs and then delete it, will it reappear in my search results?
A: No. When you add a job to your tracker from Find Matching Jobs, it is permanently removed from your search results — even if you later delete it from the tracker. This only applies to jobs originally added through the Find Matching Jobs feature; jobs added manually or from other sources are not affected.

Q: Why does a match score seem too high or too low?
A: Match scores are an indication of fit, not an exact science. There will be cases where a score feels higher or lower than you'd expect based on your own assessment of the role. We recommend reviewing jobs yourself rather than relying solely on the score. While updating your preferences (particularly the Interests description) or your resume can influence matching, these changes may not always impact scores in the way you anticipate. Use match scores as a helpful guide, but trust your own judgment when evaluating opportunities.
