Founding Product Designer

About the RoleJoin an early-stage AI company building software for insurance claims operations. As the first product designer, you will shape the experience across tools used by claims professionals and their leaders, making complex workflows clearer and easier to complete. What You'll DoOwn the end-to-end experience across claims workspaces, operational tools, and executive dashboards.

Use product analytics, behavioral data, heat maps, user interviews, and direct observation to identify opportunities and guide design decisions.

Partner with product leadership, forward-deployed engineers, and the broader engineering team to translate customer problems into workflows and implementation-ready designs.

Design human-in-the-loop AI experiences that help users understand what agents did, what information they used, and where they may need to review or intervene.

Lead the evolution of the product into an enterprise-grade experience, taking work from discovery through delivery.

Establish design principles and a design system, and use AI-assisted prototyping tools to explore and test solutions quickly.

What We're Looking ForFive to eight years of product design experience, including early-stage startup experience as a founding designer or first design hire.

A portfolio demonstrating UX ownership of dense, technical software and complex workflows, with a focus on usability beyond visual design.

Experience using product data and user research to simplify processes and measure the impact of design changes.

Experience prototyping with AI tools such as Claude or Lovable.

Background in insurance, claims, healthcare, or another compliance-heavy operational domain is a plus. Experience designing AI and human-in-the-loop interactions is also valued.

Compensation & BenefitsBase salary is $170,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa transfers are accepted; new visa sponsorship is not available. LocationOn-site, five days per week in New York, New York.
