About this role

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Join us for an exciting opportunity at Albertsons Companies, where innovation and customer service go hand-in-hand!

At Albertsons Companies, we are looking for someone who’s not just seeking a job, but someone who wants to make an impact. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead, innovate, and contribute to the growth of a company that values great service and lasting customer relationships. This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that’s constantly evolving.

We are seeking a highly strategic and execution-oriented product leader to serve as Principal Product Manager – Digital Product Management within the Customer & Commercial Product

organization. This role will be responsible for evaluating, shaping, and advancing emerging priorities before they become established roadmap commitments or fully staffed initiatives.

This role will operate at the intersection of product strategy, customer and commercial opportunity, rapid validation, and cross-functional execution. The Principal Product Manager will take ambiguous and often time-sensitive opportunities, determine what needs to be learned, align the right partners, and develop decision-grade recommendations on whether and how the organization should proceed.

This role requires a highly connected product leader with strong institutional knowledge, excellent product judgment, and the ability to move quickly across organizational boundaries. The ideal candidate combines customer orientation, strategic thinking, structured problem solving, and a bias toward action, with the ability to influence without formal authority and drive accountability in a fast-moving environment.

Main responsibilities:

Emerging Priority Assessment & Incubation

Lead the evaluation and incubation of emerging priorities across the Customer & Commercial Product organization.

Translate loosely defined opportunities into clear customer problems, hypotheses, value propositions, and decision criteria.

Rapidly assess strategic relevance, customer and commercial value, dependencies, risks, and investment requirements.

Identify the minimum set of questions that must be answered to determine whether an opportunity should advance.

Develop clear recommendations on whether to test, invest, defer, scale, or stop an initiative.

Rapid Validation & Product Discovery

Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, Engineering, and business teams to quickly generate the evidence required for investment and staffing decisions.

Balance analytical rigor with speed, ensuring that teams answer the most important questions without over-engineering early-stage work.

Translate customer, business, and operational signals into clear implications and next steps.

Ensure emerging priorities are grounded in measurable outcomes and explicit success criteria.

Product Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

Serve as the product lead for emerging priorities, creating clarity on the customer problem, desired outcome, scope, tradeoffs, and path forward.

Partner closely with Engineering leaders and teams to understand feasibility, effort, sequencing, and key constraints.

Bring together the right cross-functional partners to shape solutions and establish a practical path to validation.

Use strong institutional knowledge and relationships to quickly engage the right stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Challenge assumptions, surface tradeoffs, and maintain a strong focus on customer and business outcomes.

Portfolio Prioritization & Decision Support

Maintain and continuously prioritize a portfolio of emerging priorities based on strategic importance, urgency, customer and commercial value, organizational capacity, and dependencies.

Develop decision-grade recommendations that clearly articulate assumptions, evidence, risks, tradeoffs, and required investment.

Provide leadership with concise and timely perspectives on which opportunities warrant further investment and which should not advance.

Help determine when an emerging priority has sufficient evidence and alignment to transition into an established roadmap or dedicated product team.

Ensure validated priorities transition with clear ownership, objectives, measures of success, dependencies, and resource requirements.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Execution

Bring together Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Marketing, Loyalty, Commercial, Operations, and other partners to establish alignment and accelerate progress.

Translate emerging priorities into clear workplans, milestones, decision points, ownership, and accountability mechanisms.

Maintain momentum across multiple concurrent priorities and quickly surface issues that require leadership intervention.

Drive disciplined follow-through across teams and ensure commitments translate into action.

Influence senior stakeholders and partner teams without direct authority.

Executive Synthesis & Communication

Develop concise executive narratives, recommendations, and decision materials for Customer & Commercial Product leadership.

Synthesize complex and incomplete inputs into clear points of view and actionable recommendations.

Clearly distinguish facts, assumptions, risks, tradeoffs, decisions, and next steps.

Provide fast, high-quality insights as new opportunities and leadership priorities emerge.

Serve as a trusted thought partner to Product leadership on high-priority opportunities that require rapid evaluation and organizational alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

8 plus years of experience in product management or digital product, with demonstrated ownership of complex cross-functional initiatives.

Experience operating at a senior or principal level within a large-scale digital, e-commerce, retail, or consumer technology organization preferred.

Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, rapidly identify the most important questions, and develop clear recommendations.

Strong product discovery and experimentation skills, including the ability to design lightweight approaches to validate customer and business assumptions.

Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Engineering, Design, Analytics, and business teams to shape and advance product opportunities.

Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, create alignment, and drive accountability without direct authority.

Exceptional institutional awareness and ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations.

Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise and decision-oriented narratives.

Demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities and continuously reprioritize as business needs evolve.

Strong judgment, customer orientation, bias toward action, and comfort operating with incomplete information and compressed timelines
