My Ideal Job is a Callings.ai feature that generates a complete vision of your dream role—including an inspirational "Day in My Life" story with a personalized AI-generated hero image, a synthetic job posting based on your resume and goals, and suggested job titles—serving as a north star for evaluating real opportunities.
The My Ideal Job section paints a complete picture of your ideal career future. By combining your primary resume with your answers to the My Goals Questionnaire, Callings.ai generates an immersive view of what success looks like for you. Note: If you have multiple resumes uploaded, Callings.ai uses the one marked Primary to generate this content. Think of this as your career north star: if this vision doesn't match what you actually want, it's a signal that your resume may not be representing your true goals.

This page contains four main sections:

- Some Job Title Ideas - Alternative job titles that match your profile
- My Environment - A visual representation of your ideal work environment

Based on your primary resume and questionnaire answers, we generate a synthetic job listing that reads like a real job posting you might find on a job board. It includes all the sections you'd expect in a well-written job listing:
The role title that best captures what you're looking for (e.g., "Lead UI/UX Designer").
Where the role is based and work arrangement details:
- Primary location - City or region
- Remote flexibility - On-site, hybrid, or remote options
- Commute expectations - How often you'd need to be in the office
A description of the ideal company posting this role:
- Company stage - Startup, growth, or enterprise
- Mission - What the company is working toward
- Culture - How teams collaborate and operate
- Values - What the organization stands for
A summary of the position, similar to what you'd see at the top of a job listing:
- Scope and level of the role
- Team structure and reporting
- Strategic vs. hands-on balance
- Impact and visibility
The day-to-day work and deliverables, formatted as bullet points like a real job posting:
- Core design and execution tasks
- Collaboration and stakeholder work
- Leadership and mentorship duties
- Strategic initiatives
The skills, experience, and background the ideal candidate would have—which is you.
Hover over the job description section and click "Click to edit" to open the unified editor modal, or click the Edit button in the toolbar. Here you can refine the text to better match your vision.

When to edit:
- When the AI-generated description doesn't quite capture what you want
- To add specific details about your preferences
- To refine language for networking conversations
- To align the description with roles you're actually seeing in the market
As your career evolves, so should your ideal job. Click Regenerate in the toolbar to:
- Update based on resume changes
- Incorporate new questionnaire answers
- Pivot to a different type of role
When to regenerate:
- After a major skill acquisition (e.g., learning a new technology)
- When your goals change (e.g., switching from IC to management)
- After updating your questionnaire answers
- If your priorities shift (e.g., valuing compensation over mission)
Click the PDF button in the toolbar to download your ideal job description. Use the PDF to:
- Keep as a personal reference during your job search
- Share with headhunters so they understand exactly what you're looking for
- Use as a template when articulating your goals to mentors and coaches
- Reference during interviews to ensure you're asking about the right things

Benefit: Having your ideal job documented ensures everyone helping you is aligned around a clear target.

Not sure what your exact title should be? The Some Job Title Ideas section suggests alternative titles that might match your background and interests. Each suggestion includes an explanation of why it fits your profile.
Example for a UI/UX Designer:
-
Lead UI/UX Designer - You have a strong background in leading UI design projects, especially for gaming and consumer applications. This role would allow you to leverage your leadership skills, design system expertise, and ability to collaborate across teams to drive impactful user experiences.
-
Senior Product Designer - Given your experience in end-to-end design flows, prototyping, and A/B testing, this role would enable you to focus on crafting user-centered solutions for complex products while contributing to strategic design decisions.
-
Design Systems Manager - With your expertise in creating scalable design systems and guidelines, this role would allow you to focus on building and maintaining cohesive design frameworks that enhance consistency and efficiency across teams.
-
Principal Interaction Designer - Your skills in motion design, accessibility, and interactive systems make you an excellent candidate for a role that emphasizes creating engaging, intuitive, and inclusive user interactions at a high level.
-
Creative Director - Interactive Experiences - Given your award-winning design work and ability to lead cross-functional teams, this role would allow you to oversee the creative vision for interactive projects, combining your technical expertise with leadership and innovation.
Benefit: Discover job titles you might have overlooked that could be perfect matches.

Hover over the Job Title Ideas section and click "Click to edit" to open the editor where you can:
- Enter any job title you're interested in
- Add an explanation of why it matches your background for your own reference
Example: "Design Systems Manager - This title reflects my interest in building scalable design frameworks and my experience creating guidelines at my previous role."
You can maintain several job titles simultaneously. This helps you keep track of the different types of roles you're open to and ensures you're considering a range of opportunities.
Benefit: Cast a wider net without losing focus. A "Lead UI/UX Designer" and "Senior Product Designer" might both be appropriate depending on company size and team structure.
Remove titles that don't align with your current search focus. Even if our AI suggested it, you're in control.
Use case: If you're pivoting industries, you might delete titles specific to your previous field.

My Environment is an AI-generated hero image that visualizes your ideal work environment—created specifically for you based on your inspirational story, helping you see yourself in your dream role.
At the top of your ideal job profile, Callings.ai generates a unique AI hero image that visualizes your ideal work environment. This image is created specifically for you based on your narrative content.
If you've uploaded a profile photo in My Profile, the hero image will feature you in your ideal work environment. This creates a powerful, personalized visualization that helps you emotionally connect with your career goals.
If you haven't added a profile photo, the image will feature a representative figure in your ideal setting. To make the experience more personal, consider adding your photo before generating your ideal job profile.
The hero image reflects:
- Your industry and work setting (office, studio, lab, etc.)
- The energy and culture of your ideal workplace
- Visual elements that connect to your story's themes
- Your likeness (when a profile photo is available)
If the hero image doesn't quite capture your vision, you can click the refresh button to regenerate it. The new image will be based on the same story content but with a fresh interpretation.

Your 90th Day is an AI-generated inspirational story that visualizes what a typical day looks like 90 days into your ideal role—helping you emotionally connect with your career goals and stay motivated during your job search.
This section creates a vivid narrative of your future self thriving in your dream job. The story is customized based on:
- Your professional background from your resume
- Your career goals and preferences from the questionnaire
- The type of role, company culture, and work environment you're targeting
The story places you 90 days into your new role—past the initial onboarding phase but still experiencing the excitement of a new position. This timing is intentional:
- Day 1-30: Learning the ropes, meeting people
- Day 31-60: Building momentum, first contributions
- Day 61-90: Hitting your stride, making impact ← Your story starts here
The narrative includes:
- Morning routine - How you start your ideal workday
- Key activities - The meaningful work you're doing
- Collaboration - How you interact with colleagues and stakeholders
- Impact moments - Achievements and recognition
- Work-life balance - How the role fits into your life
For motivation: Read this story when you need a reminder of why you're putting in the effort. Job searching is hard—having a vivid picture of your destination helps you stay focused.
For interview prep: The themes and details in your story can guide how you talk about what you're looking for. You'll be able to articulate not just the job title, but the experience you want.
For career coaching: Share this vision with mentors, coaches, or career counselors. It gives them insight into your aspirations beyond a traditional resume.
For decision-making: When evaluating offers, ask yourself: "Does this opportunity move me toward this vision?" If not, it might not be the right fit.
Your Ideal Job serves as a mirror: does this description match what you actually want? If not, consider:
- Updating your resume to better reflect your true aspirations

Q: What is the "A Day in My Life" story?
A: It's an AI-generated inspirational narrative that visualizes what a typical day looks like 90 days into your ideal role. The story includes a personalized hero image and helps you emotionally connect with your career goals to stay motivated during your job search.
Q: How is the hero image generated?
A: The hero image is created using AI image generation based on the themes and setting described in your inspirational story. If you've uploaded a profile photo in My Profile, the image will feature you in your ideal work environment. Without a profile photo, a representative figure will be used instead. The image is unique to you and reflects your ideal work environment, industry, and workplace culture.
Q: Is the "Ideal Job" a real job posting?
A: No, it's a synthetic job listing that represents your dream role. It's a north star to help you evaluate whether real opportunities align with your aspirations.
Q: What if I'm open to multiple types of roles or different industries?
A: Currently, Callings.ai focuses on a single ideal job profile. The "Some Job Ideas" section provides title variations around that same role (e.g., "Lead UI/UX Designer" vs. "Senior Product Designer"), but we don't support managing completely different career paths simultaneously. If you're considering a major pivot, you can regenerate your profile when you're ready to focus on the new direction.
Q: Should my ideal job be realistic or aspirational?
A: Both! Include must-haves (realistic) and nice-to-haves (aspirational). This gives you a complete picture of what you're aiming for.
Q: What if the ideal job doesn't match what I actually want?
A: This is valuable feedback! It suggests your resume or questionnaire answers may not fully represent your true goals. Consider updating them, or edit the ideal job profile directly.
Q: How often should I regenerate my ideal job?
A: Regenerate when your career goals shift significantly—typically every 6-12 months, or when making major changes to your resume, questionnaire answers, or career direction. The inspirational story and hero image will also be regenerated with fresh content.
Q: Can I edit the inspirational story?
A: Currently, the inspirational story is generated by AI and cannot be directly edited. However, regenerating your ideal job profile will create a new story based on your latest resume and questionnaire answers.
Q: How long does it take to generate the hero image?
A: The hero image typically takes 10-30 seconds to generate after your story is created. You'll see a loading placeholder while it's being generated.
Knowing your ideal role helps you recognize opportunities that truly fit. With a complete vision of your dream job—from the synthetic job posting to the inspirational 90th-day story—you have a north star to guide your search and a clear framework to evaluate whether any opportunity will truly make you thrive.
