About
Innovation usually lives in a triangle: the people who build it, the people who commercialize it, and the legal strategy that protects it. I help those three sides lock together—so everyone moves in the same direction.
I translate real-world innovation into durable patent protection and clear portfolio decisions—so invention, business strategy, and legal constraints reinforce each other. The goal isn’t paperwork; it’s commercially meaningful scope: product and position protection, competitor distancing, and strategic deployment of IP assets. Before law, I developed intense experience in each of technology and across a handful of management roles. This provides a solid basis for listening to both engineering reality and leadership priorities. With law, I convert these into executable IP strategies leveraging timelines, risk tolerance, and roadmap pressures into optimal alignment. I love the moment an engineer says, “This is how it actually works,” and then we take it one step further: turning the example embodiment into more penetrating protectable scope that matters commercially—variants, edge cases, alternative implementations, and claim architecture that preserves options. That’s where I do my best work: completing the triangle with legal strategy, then tightening the connections so the IP supports the roadmap (and the roadmap doesn’t accidentally undercut the IP). I help teams avoid common prosecution traps—§101 eligibility pitfalls, inadvertent narrowing, enablement gaps, and prior-art landmines—without losing sight of product strategy, revenue protection, and launch timing. My multi-product type versatility is extensive, and having management roles across a spectrum eliminates silo constraints. Efficiency without effectiveness only means being better at spending money. Effectiveness with efficiency yield aligned claim strategy, well-planned examiner interviews that move the ball while preserving rapport, and disciplined portfolio choices that matter more than volume alone. I love to keep abreast of the technical and legal impacts that the spectrum of impacts that Artificial Intelligence has on both white collar roles as well as creativity. Augmentation need not sacrifice confidentiality, quality, or long-term enforceability.
I’m strongest when the goal isn’t “file more,” it’s “protect the right things.”
I focus on prosecution outcomes through claim strategy, examiner interview planning, and explicit tradeoffs on scope, budget, and timing—the kind of judgment teams need as USPTO throughput pressure rises.
I also bring a business-operator lens.
With an MBA and years of operational thinking behind my legal work, I’m comfortable building repeatable invention intake, tracking, and portfolio review rhythms that keep filings aligned to product and revenue priorities.
And I’m practical about the next wave.
As AI lowers the cost of drafting labor, I help teams put guardrails around quality, confidentiality, and eligibility risk—so workflows move faster without creating a new category of problems.
- MBA business-first IP judgment

A quick LinkedIn share to leaders in industrial tech, MedTech, fintech, or LegalTech also helps.
If it’s useful, I can send a 3–4 sentence blurb you can forward—just tell me who you’re thinking of and what they’re building.
