Who is in the loop?
The real question with AI is not how smart it looks. It is who holds the loop, where does it start and where does it end.
After years building products, I keep coming back to a simple test. Does the loop start with my intent, move through the model, and return to me for judgment? Or do I start accepting the model's framing, options, and conclusions without real review?
That difference matters more than most benchmarks. A strong loop is interactive. I bring context, goals, taste, and accountability. AI brings speed, synthesis, and range. The value is not in handing over the wheel. It is in tightening the cycle between exploration and judgment.
When I use AI to expand options, challenge my thinking, or accelerate execution, the loop stays healthy. When the system starts defining the problem and I become a passive approver, the loop has already flipped.
For me, that is the line that matters. Responsibility, judgment, and meaning still need a human owner.
