Summary

A Product Manager role focused on shaping a consumer AI product from early stages through discovery, strategy, and launch.

About this role

About MantleWe’re building an AI agent to help families support their aging parents (origin story here). Over 40M “sandwich generation” Americans currently manage their parent’s affairs. Keeping mom/dad safe and supported is like a second job: it’s time-consuming, stressful and on top of their already busy lives. We believe that managing our parents’ affairs should feel under control, easier and lower stress. Co-founded by serial entrepreneur partners including Ted Zagat, who sold his previous businesses to Slack (announcement here) and Google (Zagat restaurant guides).

The RoleWe are looking for a Product Manager to help turn Mantle's vision into a product families love. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to shape a consumer AI product from its earliest days. You will work side-by-side with the founders, design and engineering to decide what we build, why, and in what order.

This is a role for a builder. In the early days, product management at Mantle is less about roadmaps and process and more about getting close to families, finding the problems that matter most, and shipping solutions quickly. It's not just about strategy; it's about the unglamorous work of talking to users, writing crisp specs, triaging bugs and making sure nothing falls through the cracks between idea and launch.

What You'll BuildProduct discovery: Build a deep, ongoing understanding of the families we serve and the problems that matter most to them.

Product strategy and roadmap: Translate our vision into clear priorities, and make the tradeoffs that keep the team focused.

AI product experiences: Define how our agent behaves, what it does on a family's behalf, and how it earns their trust.

Launch and iteration: Take features from concept to launch, then measure, learn and improve them.

Product analytics: Establish the metrics and instrumentation that tell us what's working and what isn't.

Operating cadence: Shape how product, design and engineering plan, prioritize, communicate and deliver.

What We're Looking ForRequired Experience4+ years of product management experience, ideally on consumer products

Track record of shipping consumer products end-to-end, from discovery to launch to iteration

Experience working closely with engineering and design in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment

Strong analytical skills and comfort making data-informed decisions

AI adept: savvy with AI tools (LLMs, agents), and hands-on experience building AI-powered product experiences

Ideal BackgroundEarly-stage startup experience where you wore many hats

Experience building consumer products in sensitive, high-trust categories

Strong product sense and a clear instinct for what matters to users

Comfortable prototyping your own ideas with modern AI and design tools

Mission-driven: You care deeply about helping families navigate the complexities of aging

Nice to have, but not required: experience with FinTech

Who Thrives HereBuilders: You love creating things from scratch and taking full ownership

User-obsessed: You start every decision with the people we serve

Founder-minded: You think like an owner and care deeply about company outcomes

AI-forward: You embrace modern AI

Strategic and pragmatic: You see the big picture but are also willing to do the manual work required to get there

Great collaborator: You foster great working relationships

Autonomous: You thrive with minimal direction

Mission-driven: You care about what we're building

What You'll GetMeaningful work: Build a consumer product that will make a real difference in the lives of millions of families, with real ownership, fast pace, and huge financial potential

Founding scope: Shape our product strategy and culture from the very beginning

Partnership with founders: Work closely with Mantle's co-founders and other company leaders

Learning & growth: Opportunity to build a category-defining company from the ground up

Real ownership: Your decisions will shape our product, business and culture

Remote Fridays: Work from home every Friday. Monday through Thursday, we build together in person in San Francisco
