WHY WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Retool is becoming the platform enterprises use to build and run apps, automations, and AI agents that act on real business systems. Most organizations start with a few teams building on Retool. The opportunity is to make Retool, and the AI capabilities in it, something the whole organization adopts, on a pricing model that makes sense and with controls admins trust.

We're looking for a Product Manager to own how that happens on Retool.

You'll own three connected areas:

• Expansion. Build the enterprise platform features that drive wider adoption of Retool and its AI capabilities, making Retool easier to onboard onto, manage, and share across an organization.
• Monetization. Define how Retool bills for AI usage, including value metrics, packaging, metering, and the upgrade paths customers follow as they grow.
• Controls. Build the spend controls and usage policies that let admins and finance teams approve more AI: budgets, limits, allocation across teams, and rules for which models, tools, and data each team can use.

These areas depend on each other. Organizations roll out Retool and AI more widely when Retool is easy to onboard onto, manage, and share, when costs are clear, and when admins trust the limits they've set. Clear pricing and good controls remove the reasons to hold back.

AI also changes the commercial model. Usage is variable and hard to predict. The cost and value of an agent depend on the models, tools, data, and actions it uses, not on the number of people building with it. Customers need room to experiment and predictable spend as they scale. Retool needs a business model that encourages adoption and still grows sustainably.

This is a product role with a growth outcome, not a pricing-operations role. You'll work with customers to understand where Retool and AI create value for them, then partner with engineering, design, data, finance, and go-to-market teams to build the platform features, billing systems, and controls that grow usage. You'll lead focused projects from discovery through launch, adoption, and iteration.

You'll start by owning a focused set of projects across these areas, and your scope will grow as you deliver.

You'll join a small, experienced team that values clear thinking, speed, and direct communication, at a company where product is a core driver of how the business grows.

IN THIS ROLE

Your goal is to grow adoption of Retool and its AI capabilities across every organization that uses it.

You'll work across problems like:

• What would make it easier for a new team or builder to onboard onto Retool and start using its AI capabilities?
• What do admins need to manage AI usage as adoption grows across the organization?
• What should customers pay for as they build and run AI apps, workflows, and agents, and which value metrics encourage experimentation while keeping enterprise spend predictable?
• How can enterprises see which teams and use cases produce the most return, and move AI capacity toward them?
• Which capabilities should be broadly available, and which should set Retool's enterprise offering apart?

Day to day, you'll:

• Set the strategy and roadmap across expansion, monetization, and controls, grounding priorities in customer evidence, usage data, technical constraints, and business impact.
• Find where adoption of Retool stalls inside an organization, whether at onboarding, management, or sharing. Form a hypothesis, ship a platform change, and measure the result.
• Work with engineering and design on enterprise platform features that drive expansion: onboarding for new teams and builders, managing Retool across the organization, and sharing apps, workflows, and agents across teams.
• Work with engineering on billing and control systems, such as metering, entitlements, spend controls, usage policies, cost reporting, and upgrade paths.
• Partner with data and finance to understand unit economics, model customer behavior, and measure the effect of pricing and packaging decisions.
• Work with enterprise admins, platform owners, and finance leaders to understand how they budget for, govern, and justify AI spend.
• Partner with Sales and Customer Success to find what blocks expansion, and turn recurring needs into product capabilities rather than one-off deals.
• Make clear product and commercial tradeoffs without waiting for broad consensus.
• Define success through outcomes such as adoption of Retool across teams, adoption of Retool's AI capabilities, expansion revenue, spend predictability for customers, and sustainable unit economics.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience in billing, monetization, or enterprise platform products is a strong plus. It isn't a requirement. We care most about how you think, and the strongest candidates are exceptional in at least one area below and solid in the rest.

WHAT EVERY CANDIDATE NEEDS

• 4+ years of product management experience shipping technically complex products, with outcomes you can point to.
• The technical depth to hold your own with senior engineers on systems like metering pipelines, billing infrastructure, and AI workloads.
• Comfort with numbers. You can build a model, analyze product data yourself, and reason about unit economics.
• Strong product judgment. You form opinions, make decisions, explain the reasoning clearly, and change course as you learn.
• A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-functional problems into clear direction and shipped outcomes.
• Strong ownership and a willingness to stay close to implementation, not just the roadmap.
• Hands-on curiosity about AI. You have built or experimented with modern AI tools.

WHERE YOU MIGHT STAND OUT (one is enough)

• Growth. You've moved an adoption or expansion metric through product changes, and you run experiments carefully.
• Billing and monetization. You've built usage-based billing, metering, entitlements, or pricing and packaging for a technical product.
• Enterprise platform. You've built onboarding, admin tooling, sharing, permissions, or spend management for enterprise buyers.
• Platform. You've built infrastructure or developer-platform products and understand how technical products get adopted across an organization.
• Zero to one. You've founded or led a product from early stage, and made the pricing and growth decisions yourself.

Prior experience in AI, billing, or enterprise controls will help you ramp faster. If you don't have it but you're an exceptional PM who wants to work on how enterprises adopt Retool and pay for AI, we still want to talk to you.

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings (OTE) for commissionable roles. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Retool and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors such as (but not limited to), scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience and qualifications, and location.

Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Retool provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefit plans.

The base pay range for this role is $161,500 – $285,000 per year.
