Senior Project Manager, Mental Health

Position Description

AAPI New Jersey seeks a licensed social worker to serve as Senior Project Manager for our

federally funded initiative to expand mental health access for multilingual AAPI communities in

New Jersey. Supervising two direct reports, the Senior Project Manager will lead mental health

outreach, education, and support for adults and youth across New Jersey, including in Bergen,

Middlesex, Essex, Hudson, Mercer, and Monmouth counties.

Programming will include mental health first aid courses for adults and youth; trainings for

nonprofit staff on mental health first aid; accessible entry points for mental health, such as

therapy or story circles, mental health book clubs, and social-emotional learning workshops for

children. The Senior Project Manager will also lead work expanding AAPI NJ's in-house

capacity for case management, intake, and referrals; raising awareness of the 988 suicide and

crisis lifeline and other "warm lines"; and support creation of a mental health directory with

accompanying translations in Korean, Gujarati, and other languages spoken by our community

members.

Supervises: FT Project Coordinator, PT Community Resilience Manager

Close Collaborators: Communications, Operations, and Organizing teams

Primary Responsibilities

| Plan and execute statewide programs to expand access to and uptake of mental health

services in AAPI communities, including through:

| Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training: Deliver structured, 8-hour MHFA

training courses for youth, adults, and local nonprofit staff.

| Accessible Entry Points for Mental Health: Host community events including

therapy/story circles, mental health book clubs, and social-emotional learning

(SEL) workshops for children.

| Increasing 988 Awareness: Run targeted awareness campaigns lifting up the 988

Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and regional "warm lines"

| Supervise direct reports in following areas:

| Case management for individuals who may be in need of mental or behavioral

health service referrals, legal service referrals, work rights guidance, or social

services.

| Coordinate the translation, production, and dissemination of community

education materials in areas including mental health, behavioral health, direct

services, victim support services, rights in schools, and employment rights,

including a translated mental health resource directory.

| Data collection and reporting.

| Additional duties as assigned.

Ideal Qualifications

| LMHC, LMSW, or LCSW required

| Certified mental health first aid trainer preferred

| Minimum 2 years of relevant full-time experience

| Excellent communication, outreach, and community coordination skills.

| Knowledge of AAPI communities and cultures.

| Asian language proficiency a strong plus

| Strong project management skills; professional written and verbal skills.

| Strong relationship management skills, including ability to proactively communicate

information and needs within relationships and productively manage complex situations

with empathetic and positive communication style.

| Proficiency in or ability to learn software skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word,

PowerPoint), Canva, Slack, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace (Google Docs,

Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Gmail).

| Some travel within New Jersey required. Valid driver's license and willingness to drive

own vehicle preferred (mileage will be reimbursed).

| Must be available to begin employment no later than October 2026.

Schedule & Compensation

| Full-time role with annual salary of $60,000-70,000 (commensurate with experience).

| Hybrid office schedule (Tue-Thu in our Montclair office, Mon & Fri remote).

| Position requires attendance at events on evenings and weekends.

| Given requirements of role, travel throughout NJ for trainings and programs will

be necessary at times (30%).

| Generous PTO, personal days, and sick days

| Option of health insurance through Horizon Blue Cross covered at 80% by AAPI New

Jersey, or taxable health insurance stipend of $3,000 annually.

| Dental and vision insurance.

| A taxable employee wellness stipend of $500 per year.

Note: This is an initial one-year, grant-funded position with renewal contingent on available

funding.
