Summary

Lead earned media strategy and storytelling for a major global technology and payments client, focusing on cybersecurity, AI, and digital commerce.

About this role

About Us At We., we've spent decades at the intersection of technology and humanity, bridging the gap between what businesses create and how people experience those creations. We've learned that beneath even the most unruly situations — whether it's a global crisis, an emerging technology, or a sweeping organizational change—lies a simple human need. That need could be for trust, connection, safety, or a sense of purpose. But it’s always there. And it is only by uncovering these truths that we can make real, meaningful progress.

Vice President, Technology + Media Engagement

AI, cybersecurity and emerging payments technologies are reshaping commerce and creating new opportunities for companies to tell stories that matter. At We. Communications, we turn complex innovation into compelling stories that build reputation and business impact.

We’re seeking a VP, Technology + Media Engagement to lead earned media strategy and storytelling for a major global technology and payments client, with a strong U.S. focus and global reach.

The ideal candidate combines deep technology fluency, exceptional media instincts and hands-on leadership, moving seamlessly from product launches and integrated campaigns to senior client counsel and proactive media engagement.

What you'll be doing

Lead technology media engagement + campaign activation. Turn complex innovation across cybersecurity, AI, digital commerce, payments and emerging technologies into newsworthy stories, driving proactive media engagement, product launches and integrated campaigns across technology, business and mainstream audiences.

Build and leverage influential media relationships. Bring established relationships with leading technology, cybersecurity, AI, business and financial journalists, and the instincts to cultivate new relationships as the media landscape evolves.

Connect U.S. and global storytelling. Lead U.S. media engagement while partnering with global, regional and market teams to identify stories that can travel, develop shared assets and adapt campaigns for different audiences and markets.

Counsel senior clients and spokespeople. Serve as a trusted advisor on media strategy, story positioning, executive visibility, interview preparation and high-stakes media opportunities.

Find the stories before the brief arrives. Stay close to industry developments, emerging technology, competitive narratives and the news cycle to proactively identify opportunities for clients to lead or contribute to important conversations.

Bridge technology expertise and integrated storytelling. Work closely with corporate reputation, consumer, creative, influencer, analyst relations and executive communications teams to build connected campaigns that extend beyond traditional earned media.

Lead and develop high-performing teams. Set a high bar for editorial judgment, proactive pitching, client counsel and execution, while mentoring teams and building media capabilities that can scale across the broader agency.

The right person is equally comfortable counseling senior executives, shaping a cybersecurity or AI story, launching a new product and driving integrated campaigns across markets.
