Software Engineer (full time) – Alamar Biosciences, Inc., 47071 Bayside Pkwy, Fremont, CA 94538. Work location in Fremont, CA. Design, develop, and maintain R/Shiny applications used by internal scientists and external customers for analysis, quality control, and visualization of high-throughput proteomics data generated by the NULISA platform with R and R/Shiny as the primary application stack. Architect and implement reactive, modular Shiny front-ends, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript used in a supporting capacity to customize Shiny UI components and deliver responsive, accessible user experiences. Develop and maintain back-end data-processing pipelines and analytical modules primarily in R, with Python used for auxiliary scripting and data processing, including normalization, quality control, statistical comparison, covariate handling, and biomarker reporting and ship them as internal R packages following software engineering best practices: version control, code review, unit and integration testing, API documentation, and continuous- integration pipelines. Containerize applications using Docker and coordinate with the platform/DevOps team on production deployment. Diagnose and resolve application performance, concurrency, and reactivity issues. Design and integrate efficient large-data storage strategies. Develop and maintain end-to-end application tests using modern web-testing frameworks. Requires a master’s degree in computer science; software engineering; data science or related fields. Subject-matter-level fluency in R and Shiny required, including reactive programming, modular Shiny architecture, performance optimization for production applications, and developing custom Shiny modules. Ability to deploy Shiny applications to production hosting platforms (e.g. Posit Connect, shinyapps.io) and test them with Shiny-specific frameworks(e.g., shinytest2). Working knowledge of front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for customizing Shiny UI components, and Python for auxiliary data-processing scripts. Able to author and maintain R packages, including unit testing (e.g., testthat). Skilled with containerization (Docker). Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable) and version control (Git/GitHub). Salary: $165,131/year.
