Software Engineering Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

QDOBA is seeking a hands-on Manager of Software Engineering to lead the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise and internal-facing software platforms. This leader will manage and mentor a team of software engineers while contributing to solution architecture, technical strategy, engineering standards, and delivery execution. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep technical expertise in modern application development, cloud platforms, APIs, integration patterns, and AI-assisted engineering. This role will partner with Product Management, Data Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Quality Assurance, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, reliable solutions across QDOBA's corporate technology ecosystem.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers through coaching, career development, performance management, and technical guidance. Establish and enforce engineering standards for architecture, secure coding, code review, automated testing, documentation, version control, and CI/CD. Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, support, and continuous improvement of software applications and services. Collaborate with Product Management and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions. Lead technical design reviews and guide teams in building secure, resilient, observable, and high-performing systems. Own application reliability, performance, maintainability, operational readiness, and technical debt reduction. Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and post-incident reviews for supported applications. Manage third-party engineering partners, consultants, and distributed development resources, including technical quality, deliverables, and knowledge transfer. AI & ENGINEERING INNOVATION: Champion AI-assisted software development practices that accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and strengthen the developer experience. Establish standards and governance for responsible use of Claude Code and related AI development tools across the software development lifecycle. Identify opportunities to use AI agents for code generation, codebase analysis, documentation, testing, debugging, refactoring, technical analysis, and workflow automation. Define appropriate review, validation, security, intellectual property, and human-oversight controls for AI-generated code and artifacts. Measure and communicate the impact of AI-enabled engineering practices using agreed productivity, quality, adoption, and risk indicators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of software development experience. 3+ years of experience in a people leadership, technical lead, or engineering management role. Experience designing, delivering, and supporting enterprise-grade software applications. Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET or .NET Core, REST APIs, SQL Server, cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based source control. Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, integration patterns, testing practices, security, and modern application architecture. Experience working in Agile software development environments and managing multiple concurrent priorities. Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
