MUST HAVE A TS/SCI Senior Software Systems Engineer (MBSE/Cameo) - TS/SCI RequiredOverview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, and Cameo Systems Modeler to support the design and development of complex, software-intensive ground systems. This role is focused on the left side of the Systems Engineering V-Model, emphasizing requirements analysis, system architecture, software requirements decomposition, and MBSE artifact creation. This is not a traditional hardware, radar, RF, electrical engineering, or signal processing systems engineering position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong software systems engineering background and demonstrate the ability to transform mission and system requirements into development-ready architectures and engineering models that support software development and integration teams. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain system architectures for complex ground-based and mission-critical systems. Perform requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, and traceability from system-level requirements down to software implementation requirements. Create MBSE artifacts from the ground up using SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler. Collaborate with software engineering teams to translate operational needs into implementable software designs. Generate development-ready engineering products, including: Sequence Diagrams Activity Diagrams Block Definition Diagrams (BDD) Internal Block Diagrams (IBD) Structural and behavioral architecture models Support software integration planning and system verification activities. Establish and manage requirements traceability throughout the engineering lifecycle. Develop specifications and interface definitions supporting software-intensive solutions. Participate in architecture reviews, technical evaluations, and system design activities. Ensure consistency between system architecture, requirements, and software implementation efforts. Required Qualifications Active TS/SCI Clearance Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline Strong experience in Software Systems Engineering Experience supporting Ground Systems, Mission Systems, or Command & Control (C2) Systems Expert-level understanding of: MBSE methodologies SysML Cameo Systems Modeler Requirements Engineering Systems Architecture Development Demonstrated experience performing: System-to-subsystem decomposition System-to-software requirements flow-down Requirements traceability Specification development and management Experience supporting software development teams through architecture and modeling artifacts Ability to build system models and architectures from scratch rather than simply maintaining existing models Desired Experience Ground System Architecture Mission System Development Software Integration Planning Digital Engineering Environments Agile Software Development Programs Large-scale DoD or Intelligence Community programs Experience working in MBSE-driven development environments Ideal Candidate Profile Successful candidates will demonstrate experience in the following areas: Active TS/SCI Clearance Software Systems Engineering Ground Systems Engineering Ground System Architecture MBSE and Digital Engineering SysML Modeling Cameo Systems Modeler Requirements Decomposition and Traceability System-to-Software Requirement Flow-down Specification Creation and Management Architecture Development Software Integration Planning Creation of MBSE Artifacts from Scratch Sequence Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, BDDs, and IBDs Support of Software Development Teams Through Modeling Artifacts Preferred Backgrounds Candidates coming from organizations and programs focused on: Ground Systems Command & Control (C2) Mission Systems Software-Intensive Defense Platforms Digital Engineering and MBSE-Centric Programs Software Architecture and Systems Integration Why This Role? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redondo Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $90.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
