Summary

Define multi-year product strategy and roadmap for a core takeoff platform while leading cross-functional alignment and mentoring other product managers.

About this role

Company Overview

Construction is a trillion-dollar industry that still runs largely on PDFs, rulers, and manual processes. The biggest bottleneck is cost estimation. Takeoffs are manual and slow: estimators spend days counting materials from drawings by hand, and mistakes are costly. Bobyard is automating construction takeoff with AI. We use computer vision and NLP to read drawings faster and more accurately than manual review, and we're expanding into the rest of pre-construction. We raised a $35M Series A and are backed by 8VC, Primary, and Pear.

Position Overview

We're hiring a Staff Product Manager to set product direction across our core takeoff platform and our next generation of 0→1 bets. This is a senior individual contributor role with company-level scope. You'll define where the product goes over the next 2–3 years, make the hard tradeoffs that get us there, and raise the bar for how product is built at Bobyard.

You'll: Own product strategy across multiple surfaces. Set the multi-year vision for takeoff and adjacent pre-construction workflows, and turn it into a roadmap the company can execute against.

Be one of the deepest customer experts in the building. Build lasting relationships with estimators, PMs, and GCs across segments, and turn what you learn into conviction about where the market is going, not just what customers are asking for.

Lead 0→1 from thesis to scale. Identify new product opportunities, size them, make the case to leadership, and drive them from first prototype to repeatable revenue.

Shape the AI product experience. Partner with ML and engineering leads to decide where models should automate, where humans stay in the loop, and how we measure accuracy and trust.

Drive cross-functional alignment at the leadership level. Work with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and CS leadership on positioning, pricing, packaging, and launch strategy.

Raise the product bar. Define how we write specs, prioritize, measure outcomes, and run discovery. Mentor other PMs and help scale the product function as we grow.

Desired Attributes 7+ years in product management, with a track record of owning strategy for a product or product line, not just features

Shipped at least one 0→1 product that found real customer traction

Experience building AI/ML-driven products, or B2B software for complex, workflow-heavy users

Strong judgment under ambiguity: you make the call, explain the reasoning, and adjust fast when the data changes

Can synthesize input from customers, sales, and engineering into a clear, defensible plan and get senior stakeholders behind it

Fast learner. No construction background required, but you'll need to become a domain expert quickly

Have mentored PMs or helped build product practices on a growing team

Benefits Competitive salary plus equity options (target $150K–$185K)

Work directly with a small, hands-on team

This is a full-time, in-person role in SF. We think we have a real product advantage in a large market — if you're excited to help us build on that and take care of our customers, we'd love to talk.

Comp Philosophy We are proud to offer competitive, top-of-market compensation because we want to celebrate the dedicated people who ship amazing work and drive our success. Our individual compensation is thoughtfully tailored based on your role, experience, and contributions, alongside performance-based rewards.
