About this role

Description

About the Job We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead our Thousand Oaks location. This role owns the full performance of the location, including sales, operations, warehouse and logistics, product and inventory, people, customer experience, and financial results. It is ideal for a leader who is equally comfortable in a client meeting, on the warehouse floor, and in a P&L review, and who knows how to build a team that delivers in a high-volume, deadline-driven business. The General Manager reports to the Regional President and partners closely with regional and corporate teams across sales, finance, HR, safety, and asset management to grow the business, deliver flawless events, and build a strong, engaged team.

What You’ll Do Own the location’s P&L, including revenue, gross margin, labor, and operating expenses, and build and deliver on the annual budget and monthly forecasts. Lead the sales team to grow revenue and market share across weddings, social, corporate, and large-scale events by setting targets, coaching on pipeline and pricing, and staying personally involved in key accounts and major events. Build and strengthen relationships with clients, planners, venues, and vendor partners across Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, and the greater Los Angeles market. Oversee all operations, including warehouse, logistics, delivery, installation, and strike, so every event is executed safely, on time, and to our quality standards. Manage product and inventory performance, including availability, utilization, cleaning, maintenance, repair, and loss, and partner on purchasing, sub-rental, and disposal decisions. Plan labor and scheduling to match seasonal demand while controlling overtime and labor cost. Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, DOT, and fleet requirements. Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team, hold leaders accountable for results, and build bench strength for future growth. Partner with HR to ensure compliance with California employment requirements and company policy, including timekeeping, meal and rest breaks, and wage-and-hour practices. Use operational and financial data to spot trends, solve problems, and improve efficiency, pricing, and the customer experience. Resolve escalated customer issues quickly and professionally, protecting both the relationship and the business. Collaborate with other locations and regional leadership to share inventory, labor, and best practices.

Requirements

Proven experience leading a multi-functional business unit with full P&L responsibility. A track record of growing revenue and leading sales teams in a B2B, service, or events business. Strong operational leadership in warehouse, logistics, distribution, or field service environments. Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, margin management, labor control, and KPI tracking. Ability to build, coach, and hold accountable teams at every level, from hourly crew members to department managers. Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the credibility to represent the business with key customers and partners. Comfortable in a seasonal, fast-paced environment that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and peak-season demands. Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience, including at least three years as a General Manager, Branch Manager, or senior operations leader with P&L ownership, preferably in event rental, equipment rental, hospitality, logistics, or a similar asset-intensive business. Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, hospitality, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Experience managing an hourly workforce in California and working knowledge of state wage-and-hour requirements. Proficiency with rental management, ERP, or CRM systems and Microsoft Excel. Valid driver’s license; familiarity with DOT fleet compliance is a plus. A hands-on leader who is as effective on the warehouse floor as in a client meeting or budget review. Commercially minded, with a sharp eye for pricing, margin, and growth opportunities. Calm and decisive under pressure, especially when event timelines are tight and plans change. Customer-focused and committed to delivering an exceptional experience on every order. A builder of people and culture who creates a team others want to join and stay with.
