About the role

About Pocket

At Pocket, we're building the future of human memory.

Every day, some of the most valuable information in our lives disappears in conversations, meetings, and moments that never make it into the digital world.

We're changing that.

Pocket combines beautifully designed hardware with AI-powered software to capture real-world conversations and turn them into useful knowledge, insights, and actions.

Hundreds of thousands of devices are already in customers' hands. And we're just getting started.

We're building a world where real-life conversations become powerful context for the AI tools people use every day — and for entirely new experiences that don't exist yet.

Design will be one of our biggest competitive advantages.

We're looking for an exceptional Product Designer to help make that happen.

About the Role

We're looking for someone with extraordinary product taste, exceptional design craft, and an obsession with building products people love.

Not someone who simply makes interfaces look good.

Someone who deeply understands how products should feel, how people interact with technology, and how to turn complex capabilities into experiences that feel effortless.

You'll have enormous ownership across Pocket's product experience — from mobile and desktop applications to AI-native interactions, hardware experiences, and entirely new product surfaces.

You'll work directly with our founders, engineers, and product leadership to define what Pocket becomes.

Your mission: Help make Pocket one of the most beautifully designed and loved AI products in the world.

What You'll Own

End-to-End Product Design

• Own major product experiences from initial concept to production.
• Design exceptional interfaces across mobile, desktop, web, and hardware interactions.
• Turn complex AI capabilities into intuitive, elegant, and delightful experiences.
• Shape onboarding, activation, daily usage, and long-term engagement.
• Obsess over every detail — typography, layout, interaction, motion, and micro-interactions.
• Continuously improve the quality and consistency of the entire product experience.

AI-Native Experiences

• Explore entirely new interaction patterns enabled by AI.
• Design experiences around personal memory, contextual intelligence, agents, and proactive assistance.
• Experiment with emerging AI tools to accelerate design, prototyping, and product development.
• Challenge existing interface conventions and help define what AI-native software should feel like.
• Work closely with engineers to rapidly prototype and ship ambitious ideas.

Design Systems & Craft

• Help define and elevate Pocket's visual and interaction language.
• Build scalable design systems without sacrificing creativity or craftsmanship.
• Establish an exceptionally high bar for product quality.
• Ensure design intent translates into exceptional production experiences.
• Create a cohesive experience across hardware, software, and the broader Pocket ecosystem.

Product Thinking & Ownership

• Think beyond pixels. Understand the customer, the problem, and the business impact.
• Challenge product decisions and help shape what we build, not just how it looks.
• Work directly with customers, study their behavior, and identify opportunities to improve the experience.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to ship quickly without compromising quality.
• Take full responsibility for the quality of what you design, from idea to launch.

Who You Are

• You have exceptional taste. You know what great design looks and feels like, and you refuse to settle for average.
• You're obsessed with product. You care about the entire experience, not just your individual screens.
• You're a world-class craftsperson. Your portfolio demonstrates outstanding visual, interaction, and product design.
• You're AI-native. You actively experiment with AI and are excited about how it will transform the products we build.
• You're a builder. You love turning ideas into working prototypes and shipping real products.
• You take extreme ownership. You don't wait for someone to tell you what needs improvement.
• You're incredibly ambitious. You want to do the best work of your career alongside people who expect the same from themselves.
• You move fast. You know when to explore, when to make decisions, and when to ship.
• You think independently. You have strong opinions, challenge assumptions, and welcome feedback.

We care far more about what you've built, your taste, and your potential than your job titles or years of experience.

Strong Plus

• You've designed products that people genuinely love.
• You've worked at an exceptional consumer technology or AI company.
• You've built products from 0 to 1.
• You have experience with both hardware and software.
• You've developed new interaction patterns for AI-powered products.
• You have strong prototyping, motion, or technical skills.

Why Join Pocket?

Real scale. Hundreds of thousands of devices are already in customers' hands. Your work will reach real people immediately.

Unmatched ownership. You'll have a direct impact on the product, the experience, and the company's future.

AI at the frontier. You'll help define how people interact with AI using the context of their real lives.

Exceptional ambition. We're building a company that aims to compete with the best product and design teams in the world.

Work with the founders. Small team, direct feedback, fast decisions, and an extremely high bar for quality.

Build something physical and digital. Few design roles give you the opportunity to shape both a physical device and the AI-powered software ecosystem around it.

The Opportunity

We believe the next generation of great AI products won't just be more intelligent.

They'll be radically better designed.

More intuitive. More personal. More useful. More human.

We're looking for someone who believes that exceptional design can turn powerful technology into something millions of people genuinely love.

If you're obsessed with design, excited about AI, and hungry to build the best products of your career, join us.
