About this role

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in C++ and Java.

Experience in domains related to information retrieval, search infrastructure, ranking systems, data quality, or signal extraction for content evaluation.

Experience with large-scale data analysis, building data pipelines (e.g., Flume), and applying statistical methods to solve problems.

Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Experience developing accessible technologies.

Build and maintain highly scalable software systems and backend infrastructure designed to operate on top of Large Language Models for information retrieval.

Design, implement, and continuously iterate on systems to retrieve high-value, rights-protected content. This includes defining quality signals, extracting data, and building evaluation models.

Partner closely with engineers, product managers, and research teams across Google (such as NotebookLM, Play Books, Core Data, and Search) to seamlessly integrate premium knowledge into high-visibility Generative Artificial Intelligence surfaces.

Grow in a changing, rapidly growing environment, taking the initiative to establish clear technical directions and deliver results from the ground up for a new organizational effort.

Uphold standards for code quality, system reliability, engineering best practices, and comprehensive technical documentation across the team.
